The power of a virtual wallet.

Uses and custom of unbanked people with a digital tool.

Client: Bim & Copiloto

When the lack of financial infrastructure is an opportunity

Around half of the population

is not banked.

This is due to the lack of infrastructure in the country and informality in the economy. BIM is a mobile wallet for people who are not banked. They wanted to discover new uses that users are giving their products to find areas of opportunity.

I don't trust banks, they are far from my house and on the way they can rob me

It is not about understanding only the end user but the intermediary in the service.

Speculative impact.

We also analyze the ecosystem in which the product is wrapped, using different techniques to visualize behaviors from applied ethnography, in-depth interviews and telephone calls.

Depth interviews

After a strategic segmentation, the profiles were chosen to interview.

Co-creation sessions with different expert profiles in technology and design.

Prototype and test

A prototype was made in daily format where users could interact with the potential idea.

After the investigation we found new uses of the tool that redefined the value proposition.

Saving as a form of organization.

From schoolchildren to save up to merchants like a salchipaperia. These users did not use the wallet to send money but to save money.

The power of the future self

There is a powerful correspondence between the vision of the future and the management of time and money.

The winemakers are part of the service

There is a quite strong emotional relationship between users and intermediaries, which in many cases are the owners of the stores.

Technology is not a problem

The interface is not a problem when the user's main task is fulfilled

We develop three concepts from the findings

I have worked with projects from different sectors

Nahun is incredibly easy to work with, open minded, positive and innovative. He has the ability to really think holistically and strategically about the big picture while simultaneously making each challenge feel fun and purposeful. He has a lot of great experience, is good at listening and is very open and direct with his ideas, which is very helpful in discussions. I would definitely be happy to collaborate with Nahun again.
